A design proposal for a gluten-free café in the Argüelles neighborhood.
Inspired by Mexican culture and its artisanal traditions. The project translates the color and visual energy of alebrijes into a contemporary spatial language, balanced by a palette of warm, sustainably sourced materials.
The coffee shop unfolds across three zones: a bakery counter conceived as a display piece, an open barista station, and a relaxed seating area overlooking the street.

Inspired by Mexican alebrijes — fantastical creatures born from dreams and folk tradition, believed to guide and protect the spirit. Their intricate Zapotec patterns carry stories of identity, nature, and the unseen world, translated here into form and detail.
“Banhez”
Is a Zapotec word that conveys a wish for well-being, happiness, and good fortune.
