“Intervention project competition with Meliá Hotels and the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum.”

The goal: to spark a moment of introspection for every visitor. This installation invites the viewer to pause and look into a play of reflections in which their own image becomes part of different scenarios.
“This is not a mirror” not only evokes the essence of the painting through a selection of materials that represent it from a place of minimalism and timelessness, but also reminds visitors to admire the beauty that surrounds us.

“This is not a mirror” is an installation inspired by Rubens’ painting Venus and Cupid — a work that looks beyond physical beauty to explore the transformative power of self-love.
Taking the painting’s central detail, in which Cupid holds a mirror for Venus to see her own reflection, our structure invites visitors on a journey of reflections.
